9-1-1 for Kids and it’s International Ambassador, Kathy Ireland hosted their 26th annual Holiday Children’s Celebration sponsored by the Yard House and The Improv on December 3rd. 9-1-1’s official mascot Red E. Fox joined Kathy in introducing their newest members to the 9-1-1 for Kids’ family, Abby & Gabby, the effervescent cell phone sisters who teach how to call 9-1-1 on a cell phone.
Additionally, safety hero stars - Chipper the CHP Chipmunk, McGruff the Crime Prevention Dog, Smokey the Bear, and Sparky the Fire Dog were front and center as they greeted and entertained over 300 disadvantaged children ages 4-11 years old from local community agencies. The Yard House closed their restaurant all morning & lunchtime just for this event and reopened their doors after 1pm. The Improv provides a wonderful gathering theater for the morning welcome program and the robust afternoon program which peaked when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived! The children’s excitement then further escalated when gifts were presented to each youngster!
Anaheim PD, California Highway Patrol, Irvine PD, and Riverside County FD, delighted the elated children with their vehicles, the K-9 units and the kind attention from active and retired officers & firefighters in uniform. Over 100 additional volunteers from corporate and community organizations donated their time in setting up, operating all the activities and helping to clean up.
Special thanks to our incredibly kind and generous patrons and supporters: The Yard House, The Improv, Angela & Emilio Viscomi, The Brad Bronson Family, Tim Kennedy & Califame, Aart & Wes of TCG Intl., Kathy Ireland Worldwide, Sterling Winters Company, Candlewood Suites, Doubletree Hotel, Sysco, Edward Don and Company, Spice Box, Kids Confections, Union Bank, Art Supply Warehouse, Jon Long & Vineyard View Ranch, Target, GES Events, BearCom, Sony Electronics, and Chapel West Grove High School Group.
