Patrick Long began inerting at AEFK when he was a 14-year old high school student in Thousand Oaks. Patrick has headed uprace car tree ornament decorating during the charity's holiday events for the disadvantaged. At age 26, Patrick Long is arguably the finest kart driver of his generation - a natural talent who is a natural winner. As evidence, Long has made short work of karting competition in 1998, winning major karting events in Europe and America, including the Winter Cup in Italy and the Constructor's Cup in the USA.
A turning point for Patrick's career came in 1995, when he traveled to Belgium to compete in that country's national championship. Despite driving against more experienced karters Patrick placed second in his age group. Patrick has won the '98 Toyota Atlantic Test Ride and a scholarship this year to the La Filiere - Elf race School in France. In winning the 2005 ALMS GT2 Driver Championship, Long became the first American to do so since 1999. Patrick, with his family has been one of AEFK's most devoted volunteers and sponsors since 1994.
